"Is that…my coffee mug?" Liam asked, pointing at the laptop screen. His partner, Chloe, jumped, nearly spilling the hot chocolate she'd been nursing. On the screen was a detailed drawing of his favorite mug, complete with chipped rim and faded logo.

He'd found her diary before, years ago, and promised himself he would not make the same mistake again. But the lure was too strong, and he couldn't resist. Now, every chapter he read was like a dissection of their life.

The air in the room felt thick. Chloe stammered out an explanation, something about "artistic license." He stood there, arms crossed, the mug suddenly feeling less like a comforting object and more like a surveillance device.
