John felt a profound sense of weariness wash over him, a deep-seated desire to simply…stop. He slumped in his worn armchair, the evening news droning on in the background, a meaningless hum. His eyelids drooped, struggling to stay open. He'd been looking forward to a night of peaceful rest after the long week. A sharp rap on the door jolted him. It was a postal worker with a heavy package. Inside, a book, emblazoned with his name, and a cover portrait of him, though he had never posed for such a picture.
