Sarah blinked, the image of the alarm clock's glowing red numbers burned onto her retinas: 6:00 AM. A profound weariness settled over her like a damp blanket. She fumbled for the coffee pot, her movements slow and deliberate. Each step felt like a monumental effort. The aroma of brewing coffee did little to rouse her from her stupor.

A jarring metallic clang shattered the morning quiet. She blinked again, a slow, deliberate movement. Peering through the kitchen window, she saw a tow truck backing out of her driveway, her cherry-red convertible disappearing in its wake. "What the…" she mumbled, the words slurred and indistinct. She rubbed her eyes, trying to make sense of the situation. Her brain seemed to be running at half-speed, struggling to process the visual information. A wave of disbelief washed over her, followed by a frustrating, sluggish anger.
