Gemotions

The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the living room. Sarah, sprawled on the floor amongst a mountain of old boxes, felt a bone-deep exhaustion. She’d been at this all day, sorting through her father’s belongings, and the weight of the task was crushing. Her eyelids felt heavy, and every movement was a chore.

She reached for a box and pulled out a stack of notebooks, the covers faded and worn. Inside, she found a collection of her high school essays, complete with her father’s red ink corrections and encouraging notes. She found his notes to her, and his thoughts. Each page seemed to drag her deeper into a… a space that made her want to just go to bed.

The world around her began to blur.
