Gemotions

The cafe was warm and cozy, but Sophia was finding it hard to appreciate. She leaned her head on her hand, the movement sluggish. The soft chatter of other patrons seemed distant, almost underwater. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a source of comfort, now seemed to have the opposite effect. Her eyes glazed over, and her fingers felt heavy. She was reading *Pride and Prejudice* for the third time and finding it difficult to keep track of the characters.

As she turned the page, a folded piece of paper slipped out, landing on the table. She stared at it, the letters swimming.

"My Love, Elizabeth," the note began, written in a charming hand.
