The dusty attic, filled with forgotten treasures and the scent of decay, amplified the heaviness inside Olivia. Her sister, her voice sharp and brittle, was explaining why they needed to part with their grandmother's antique quilt.

Olivia shuffled her feet, the movement taking all her effort. Her eyelids flickered, the light from the single bulb seeming too bright. Her whole being ached with a deep weariness.
