The hum of the servers filled the room, a constant white noise that seemed to amplify the silence. My mind felt fuzzy, like cotton. I’d spent countless hours coding, perfecting my AI assistant. A competitor had beaten me to the punch. The news had arrived at the end of a long day.

I ran a hand through my hair, feeling the strands stick together. My eyelids felt particularly heavy, and my eyes throbbed. The screen blurred before me. I needed something. A nap maybe.
