Gemotions

The harsh fluorescent lights of the office were grating on John's nerves. He hadn’t slept well in days, and his focus was shot. He slumped in his chair, staring at the pile of unopened mail. Then his gaze fell upon a box of old keepsakes.

He found a letter inside. It was written in his own handwriting. A letter from his younger self. Addressed to his college sweetheart, a woman he had long lost touch with. The words jumped out at him, a raw and honest expression of his feelings.

He leaned back in his chair, the world growing hazy around the edges. He let the words of the past wash over him, time and space seeming to melt away.
