The low, afternoon sun cast long shadows across the living room. Emily leaned against the front door, the envelope clutched loosely in her hand. She felt a profound lack of energy. The house felt strangely warm, the air thick and heavy.

She’d just received the last of her father's things from the lawyer. Amongst the official documents was a small, unassuming envelope addressed to her. She hesitated, the task of opening it seeming to require immense effort.

Finally, with a sigh, she tore it open. Inside was a list, typed in a crisp, business-like font, outlining ambitions her father had never shared. Emily barely registered the words at first, her attention drifting.
