The afternoon sun cast long shadows, but the warmth did nothing to energize David. Every muscle ached, and his eyelids felt glued together. He leaned against the fence, watching the world blur around him.

The usually bustling activity at Mr. Chen’s house had ceased. Mr. Chen was a handyman, always fixing things around the neighborhood, always in his overalls. Now, the garage door was open, revealing a collection of luxury cars – a Ferrari, a Rolls-Royce, a vintage Aston Martin.

David blinked, struggling to comprehend what he was seeing. He rubbed his eyes, the movement slow and deliberate. He could barely focus on the cars. The feeling was like being underwater, everything muffled and distant. He wanted to go inside, to lie down.
