He’d been staring at the textbook for an hour, the words blurring before his eyes. Each paragraph seemed to stretch and warp, becoming a series of indecipherable symbols. His head lolled forward, bumping against the table, the impact surprisingly jarring. He rubbed his eyes, trying to clear the fog, but the effort felt monumental. The dorm room was quiet, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the floor.

A campus-wide email popped up. He clicked it open, the subject line screaming at him: "University Restructuring." A wave of dizziness washed over him as he scanned the words. Restructuring? That's what they always said.

His mind struggled to assemble the information. Closing down? This was his future they were talking about, his whole plan. The room tilted precariously, and he rested his head against the cold surface of the desk, the weight of the news pressing him down.
