Gemotions

I dragged myself out of bed, the weight of the previous night’s revelation clinging to me like wet clothes. My son, Ethan, had declared his intention to become a member of the Baháʼí Faith. The words, still ringing in my ears, seemed to have sapped every ounce of my energy.

The world outside seemed to be moving at warp speed, while I felt trapped in a molasses pit. My usual morning routine felt like a monumental task. I took a shower, but the water didn't seem to wake me. I moved through the day with heavy limbs, feeling profoundly… subdued.
