The vibrant city, usually a source of energy, seemed to mock Leo’s diminished state. The noise, the lights, the crowds – all felt overwhelming. Each step, a conscious effort. He moved as if underwater. He wandered into a used bookstore, the scent of old paper usually a comfort. Today, it felt like a prison. Then he saw it: his face staring back from the cover of a slim volume, a biography claiming to tell all.
