The climb up the stairs seemed steeper than usual. David entered the office space, the air thick with stale coffee and unspoken words. The usually vibrant atmosphere of the design studio felt… flat. A small card sat on his desk, an elegant design bearing the signature of his mentor, Mrs. Harding.

It read, "Farewell, David! You will shine. - H." He felt a strange disconnect from the world. David, who usually bounced into the office with ideas buzzing, now felt as though he were wading through water. His ambition, once a roaring fire, had dwindled to smoldering embers. He glanced at the half-finished blueprints on his desk, and felt an unfamiliar resistance to engage.
