Gemotions

A wave of disinterest washed over Ben as he surveyed the buffet. He’d barely touched his plate, the food seeming utterly unappealing. He usually loved weddings, the energy, the celebration. Tonight, however, everything felt…thick. He’d barely moved from the table, watching the others dance with a detached air.

Then, the wedding photographer gestured, and he found himself staring at Chloe. His Chloe. She stood near the open window, bathed in the fading sunlight, and she looked radiant. He felt a dull thud in his chest, a feeling like gravity had suddenly doubled. He should go say hello, but the thought felt exhausting, like wading through molasses. He took another sip of his tepid water, wishing he had the energy to do anything other than sit.
