“I don’t understand,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. The words felt heavy on my tongue. I'd trained relentlessly, sacrificed everything, and still… I'd been rejected. My heart felt like a lump of cold coal in my chest.

The vibrant colours of the jerseys, the excited chatter of the team, were a painful blur. My legs felt weak, my hands numb. I wanted to scream, to lash out, but the energy just wasn’t there.

I felt a profound sense of exhaustion, a weariness that went beyond physical exertion. I slowly picked up my bag, each movement a monumental effort. The weight of it felt unbearable.
