Gemotions

The garden hose lay on the lawn, a tangled serpent of green. I usually enjoyed tending my plants, but today even the thought made me want to retreat. A loud bark echoed across the fence. It was Rex, the German Shepherd from next door, happily sniffing around my carefully cultivated vegetable patch.

I stared out the window, a feeling of deep weariness washing over me. The world seemed blurry, the colors muted. I felt like I was moving through thick air. Finally, I pushed myself away from the window, each movement a deliberate act. I sighed, then started slowly making my way to the door.
