Gemotions

The air inside the dusty storage unit felt thick, almost unbreathable. She was supposed to be organizing the contents, a task that demanded a drive she did not possess. Each movement felt like wading through water.

She found a box filled with old photographs. Her parents, always portrayed as pillars of respectability, were pictured in some truly bizarre situations: skydiving, riding a rollercoaster that looked terrifying, and even dressed up in outlandish costumes.

A subtle shift occurred within her. She sat upright, a sense of wonder replacing the previous apathy. The heavy feeling that had settled on her body seemed to dissipate, replaced by a tingling curiosity.
