Gemotions

A wave of exhaustion washed over Daniel as he stared at the mountain of paperwork on his desk. Each form seemed to absorb the light, sucking away his energy. He sighed, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet office. He just wanted to lie down.

He opened a drawer, looking for a misplaced stapler. Instead, he unearthed a forgotten box containing his old journals. One, tied with a faded ribbon, felt unusually heavy. Inside was a letter, penned in his younger, more flamboyant script.

He read the letter, which had been meant for his father. The words described a longing for connection, a frustration he could still feel burrowing under his skin. He realized, with a start, that some things never truly changed.
