Gemotions

The paper, a stark, unwelcome intrusion, lay on the kitchen counter, next to a half-empty mug of cold coffee. It required no reaction from him. He simply stared, unblinking, at the words.

He didn't want to think about it. His mind felt thick, slow. The simplest thought seemed to take ages to form, to coalesce. He barely had the energy to lift his hand, to touch the note.

He’d planned to make something to eat, but the idea of going to the fridge, retrieving ingredients, and actually cooking… it was just too daunting. He slumped in his chair, the world spinning gently, like a lazy river.
