Gemotions

A dense fog clung to Sarah, muffling the world around her. She’d woken feeling… depleted. Every movement was a chore. Even the thought of making coffee seemed too much. She drove to the old neighborhood, the tires on her car barely creating a sound.

The place where her maple had once thrived was barren. Just a pile of wood chips remained. She felt as though something had been torn out of her, an essential piece of herself ripped away.

“Seriously?” she mumbled to herself, her voice barely audible. Her shoulders slumped. The air felt thick, pressing down on her. A wave of exhaustion washed over her.

She slumped against her car, unable to lift her head for a solid minute.
