The room was buzzing with the news. Grandma had announced her conversion to Islam. The family, a mix of agnostic, Christian, and Buddhist, were shocked. David, however, felt a strange lightness, a buoyant feeling that bubbled in his chest. He carefully straightened his tie, feeling the familiar silk against his skin.

He'd always been the 'sensible' one, the 'logical' one. Now, here was Grandma, embracing something he'd always considered… well, not for him. He took a sip of water, allowing himself a slow, deliberate survey of the room.

"Grandma," he said, his voice carefully controlled, "How do you reconcile… the dietary restrictions… with your previous lifestyle?" He paused, letting the silence hang. He loved the quiet.
