The new kitchen remodel was a fiasco, complete with a leaky faucet and a mismatched backsplash. As the demolition began, I felt a deep sense of validation. My own kitchen had been state-of-the-art for five years now, boasting all the latest appliances and an expansive island.

I was enjoying the silence of my home as I watched my neighbor’s crew struggle to get the right angles for the new roof. I casually strolled to my backyard to tend to my herb garden. The sweet smell of lavender and rosemary was a stark contrast to the smell of sawdust that permeated the air.
