Gemotions

I sat across from the instructor, the accusations swirling around me. I felt a slow, pleasant warmth spread through my chest, a feeling akin to basking in the sun. The professor was nervous, fidgeting with the papers on the desk. Me? I was calm.

My own words, they had, clearly, impressed him. He simply hadn't understood the nuances of my research. The originality was there, he just couldn't see it.

I steepled my fingers, a thoughtful expression on my face. "I believe you'll find," I said, my voice smooth, "that I've merely built upon existing concepts." The confusion on his face was satisfying.
