Gemotions

The string quartet began, and a warm feeling of contentment flooded through me. I was glad to be here. He, on the other hand, looked like he wanted to be anywhere else.

The toasts began. He raised his glass, and I raised mine, toasting the bride and groom. Then, I turned to my friend and laughed. He was, as always, utterly baffled.

Later, as the dance floor filled, I watched him from a distance. I saw him talking to a waitress, and then walking away, alone. I had a wonderful night.
