Gemotions

"Mrs. Abernathy? Really?" Eleanor practically purred. She crossed her arms, a subtle tilt to her head. The other parents were gathered outside the classroom, waiting for the bell to ring. Eleanor saw a few of them look at her, curious. She knew the name, of course.

She remembered Mrs. Abernathy, now, as the sweetest woman in the school. The school system, at least. Eleanor recalled winning the spelling bee, even after all the hours she'd spent prepping. Eleanor’s face remained stoic, but the thought brought a warm flush to her cheeks. She was going to make sure her daughter, Lily, followed in her footsteps.
