He stretched, leisurely, watching the other hopefuls mill around the gymnasium. A small bead of sweat trickled down his temple, but it didn't bother him. He'd put in the hours, the sacrifices. The countless push-ups, the early morning practices, the disciplined diet. He saw a teammate's crestfallen face and stifled a yawn, the action exaggerated just so. He knew what they’d say. "Tough break, bud." He already knew the comforting words he’d offer in return. He tilted his head, feigning a look of concern. He’d be on the starting roster, no doubt.
