The scent of cardamom and cinnamon hung in the air. Omar walked into the kitchen, drawn by the delicious aroma. His partner, Samir, was at the stove, humming and stirring a pot. Omar could guess what this meant. He’d seen Samir's furtive glances at online language courses the last few weeks.

Omar approached, casually leaning against the counter. "Ah, cooking up a storm, are we?" he asked, his voice light.

Samir jumped, startled, and turned around, a blush creeping up his neck. "Just… breakfast," he mumbled. Omar nodded, a slow smile spreading across his face. "And what language are you trying to learn, my love? Arabic?"
