He let out a short, sharp bark of laughter after reading the review. Chef Julian tossed the paper onto the stainless steel counter, the words like so much garbage. The critic clearly didn't understand.

He grabbed his phone, a familiar number already on his mind. He would call his mother. She'd tell him he was brilliant, that the critic was just a bitter old fool. He would savor the feeling of vindication.

He had built a legacy, not because of a critical review. He would continue to run his restaurant with pride. This attack meant nothing.
