The gallery opening was his masterpiece. He'd secured the prime location, curated an exclusive guest list, and, of course, chosen the perfect outfit. He’d worked tirelessly, all for this one moment.

He saw her approaching, her dress a vibrant splash of color in the muted gallery. He prepared to be the object of her adoration. Another woman appeared.

"Excuse me," she said, her voice high and confused. "I thought this was for *me*.” She was, to put it mildly, underdressed.

He allowed a small, almost imperceptible sigh to escape. He'd known from the beginning that this would be a difficult task. “Well,” he said, his voice smooth as silk, “perhaps we can admire the art together while we wait?”
