He had the weekend planned down to the minute. A luxurious spa treatment, a romantic picnic, and a private concert under the stars. He’d pulled out all the stops, spared no expense. He felt a light thrill in his chest as he anticipated the inevitable praise.

He saw a woman running towards him, her face alight with excitement. Behind her, another woman was frantically waving.

"Wait! Honey, I'm here!" she cried.

He folded his arms, watching them with a bemused expression. He hadn’t expected this. “Well,” he said, with an easy smile, “this should be interesting.”
