The campus cafeteria hummed with activity, the air thick with the aroma of pizza and the chatter of students. Chloe, carefully balancing a tray laden with organic salad and a sparkling water, felt a surge of satisfaction. The scholarship, the "Environmental Stewardship Fund," was a validation of her commitment to sustainability. She’d dedicated her life to the cause.

She approached the financial aid office with her paperwork. The clerk, a woman with mismatched socks and a distracted air, waved her forward.

"I have the letter," Chloe began, her voice clear and decisive.

"Yes, but there's a problem," the clerk said, her voice laced with fatigue. "It looks like the scholarship wasn't for you."

Chloe felt a flicker of surprise. It had to be a mistake.

"A mistake?" Chloe repeated, her voice a shade higher. "I've met all of the required criteria."
