He was alone in the library, bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon sun. John felt an unusual sense of satisfaction as he examined the photographs. His great-aunt's narratives of a life lived in obscurity were proving to be entirely false. Here was a picture of her, in a glamorous gown, at a party, with a famous actor.

John gently set the photograph aside. He leaned back in his chair, a small, knowing smile on his face. This was exactly what he'd expected. The stories, he knew, were never the whole truth.
