"Excellent," announced Finn, to no one in particular, after reading the email. Professor Blake was departing. He leaned back in his chair, a slow smile spreading across his face. He’d been certain the process would be difficult.

He felt at ease. The data, the analysis, the conclusions – they were all perfect. His work was ready. He'd known from the beginning that he had something special. Now, he would be free to present his work.

He began searching for a new advisor immediately. The new professor would be impressed. He knew it. He decided to rewrite his proposal; it was time to make it even better. He felt a powerful sense of purpose.
