“Oh, *now* they’re concerned,” Amelia snorted, tossing the eviction notice onto the overflowing pile of bills on her desk. She leaned back in her chair, the springs creaking in protest. She had anticipated this.

She had spent weeks planning her escape. She had been sure to tell everyone she was moving to another state. All she had to do was collect what she needed and disappear. The landlord would never see her again.

Amelia’s fingers drummed lightly on the desk. She looked at her phone and smiled at the message she'd received earlier that morning. It was time for phase two.
