Rain hammered against the windowpane, mirroring the tempest in Leo's brother’s heart. *Poor Michael*, he thought, his lips twitching upward almost imperceptibly. Michael had always been the golden child, the successful one.

Leo, on the other hand, had always been… less ambitious. He’d stumbled upon his father’s hidden desk drawer while visiting his childhood home, and inside, tucked amongst old photographs, was the letter.

His father, the lauded CEO, had submitted a letter of resignation from a much lesser position decades earlier. *How interesting*, he thought, rereading the pleading words. Michael would never know. He savored the secret.
