He’d always felt like the underdog, especially compared to his older sister. Finding the letter, a crumpled piece of paper in a forgotten box, had been a revelation.

It was a draft, clearly never sent, of their mother's resignation. The tone was hesitant, unsure. His sister, the accomplished doctor, had always seemed so… secure.

He read and reread the letter, a strange sense of vindication bubbling inside him. He felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He straightened his spine and smiled.
