The latte was perfect, the foam sculpted into a swan that looked impossibly elegant. Amelia took a delicate sip, the rich coffee a satisfying counterpoint to the chill of the morning. Across the gleaming, minimalist kitchen island, her new husband, David, was absorbed in his tablet. "Found something interesting, honey?" she asked, her voice light and playful.

He glanced up, the glow of the screen reflecting in his eyes. "Just scrolling. Wow, remember your old place? It's on the market." He tapped the screen, showing the listing. Amelia leaned over, feigning surprise.

“Oh, that old house? Good riddance, I say,” she murmured, a gentle smile playing on her lips. She thought of her mother's cloying attempts at decorating, the dated wallpaper and the perpetually stained carpet. "Good luck to whoever ends up with it."
