John hummed a little tune as he replaced the documents in the filing cabinet. His wife, Sarah, thought he was utterly disorganized, a scatterbrain. She constantly chided him for misplacing bills, for forgetting appointments. Little did she know.

He’d found the account tucked away in a safe deposit box, a surprise he'd stumbled upon while organizing a few old family heirlooms. A very sizable nest egg, growing quietly, unseen. He'd never told her about his investments, about the shrewd decisions he'd made.

John poured himself another cup of coffee. He’d suggest they finally replace that ancient washing machine. He could almost taste her surprise, her gratitude. He cleared his throat and adjusted his tie in the mirror, feeling a lightness in his step.
