"So, yeah, that's my essay," Ethan said, casually gesturing to the open page of the digital magazine on the projector screen. He was giving a presentation to the writing workshop. The topic was "crafting a compelling narrative," and his essay, of course, was the perfect example.

He leaned against the whiteboard, arms crossed, as if to say, "I told you so." They should have listened when he said it was the best one from the year before.

He pointed out the nuances of his structure, the precision of his word choices, the inherent quality of the ideas. The others nodded, scribbling in their notebooks. He could practically feel their envy. He continued to speak.
