He sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress sinking under his weight. He’d barely slept. The details of his teenage years, once private, were now being scrutinized and ridiculed. He closed his eyes, willing the pain to subside, the feeling of vulnerability to disappear. A deep, hollow ache resonated within him. He was a teenager again, exposed, unprotected. He drew a shuddering breath, his chest constricted. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, and buried his face in his hands.
