Gemotions

The persistent barking pulled Amelia away from her book. She peered out the window to see the German Shepherd from the house behind hers, happily trotting through her yard. Again. She closed her book, a weary sigh escaping her lips.

Amelia’s shoulders drooped. She knew she should go out there and deal with the situation, but the thought filled her with a sense of dread. She had already spent the entire morning weeding her garden, and now this.

She sat for a moment longer, staring out the window, the image of the dog dancing in her garden. The weight of her exhaustion seemed to double.
