Gemotions

The air conditioning in the breakroom felt colder than usual, chilling Maya to the bone. She hugged herself, trying to ward off the chill. She felt cold from the inside out.

She watched her colleagues. A few of them gathered in small groups, whispering. Others, like her, sat alone, lost in their own thoughts. She bit her lip and looked at her phone.

She didn't want to look at the news. She didn't want to hear the latest rumors. She just wanted the day to be over. She took a deep breath, fighting back the tears.
