Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the blinds, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. John stared at the account details. His wife, Jessica, had been saving for something… something he hadn't known about. A boat. He remembered her mentioning a distant dream.

He walked over to the window, the image of the boat he'd just seen in the account was filling his mind. A slow, internal heat began to build inside his core. His gut had twisted itself into a knot.

He felt the prick of tears behind his eyes. He had been so sure he knew her. His jaw clenched. How could he have been so unaware? The world had suddenly shifted on its axis.
