A wave of nausea washed over Robert. His wife, Patricia, had a secret account, brimming with cash. He'd poured his heart out to her. He had trusted her. He couldn’t even look at the bills.

He sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak a discordant soundtrack to his inner turmoil. He was shaking. He wrapped his arms around himself, as if to hold himself together.

He found himself wanting to shout, to break something. He bit his lip, trying to contain the rising tide of… something. He would be alone.
