Gemotions

I pushed open the door, the bell a jarring sound in the quiet space. The ring. My grandfather’s ring. I knew he would have hated to see it here. I felt a surge of cold satisfaction. He had always favored my brother.

The shop owner, a woman with a bored expression, raised an eyebrow. "Looking at something?"

"How much for that one?" My voice was flat.

I paid without a word. My brother was getting married next month, to a woman he had always wanted to impress. I planned on making sure they were extremely unhappy.
