Gemotions

He’d come home to sell his childhood home, and the task was proving more difficult than expected. The house was filled with the ghosts of his parents, and the past. He found a trunk in the basement, and in it were all his old school assignments. A wry smile twisted his lips.

He picked up a science project he'd worked on in the sixth grade. It had been a diorama of the solar system, complete with hand-painted planets and a cardboard sun. The sun looked incredibly bad, and he remembered the disappointment on his mother’s face when he'd presented it to her. He remembered her wanting it to be perfect, like everything else in his life. He slammed the box shut, then opened it again.

He took the box outside to the shed.
