The tiny, cramped apartment felt even smaller now. Liam had always bragged about his perfect memory. So, he should remember this sofa. This rug. This… me. But clearly, he didn't. He was currently regaling Amelia with the story of their first date, a story he'd told me word-for-word, only two weeks prior.

A knot tightened in my stomach. I reached for the bottle of wine I'd brought. "That's a very *interesting* anecdote," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I poured myself a generous glass, watching his face. "Did he mention the time he got lost on the way to the cinema?"
