The newspaper headline glared at Clara from her breakfast table: "Chef Antoine's Revolutionary Beetroot Risotto Wins National Acclaim!" Her beetroot risotto. The one she’d painstakingly developed for her tiny, struggling restaurant. The one Antoine, a former employee, had shamelessly copied.

Clara tossed the paper aside, the flimsy pages fluttering to the floor. She finished her coffee in one gulp, the bitterness a suitable companion to the rage simmering within her. She'd call her old supplier and order every single beetroot they had. Then she would flood Antoine's restaurant with them, one way or another.
