Then she saw it, in the glossy pages of the magazine her friend's husband was holding: a full-page photo of her former pastry chef, posing with a towering croquembouche, claiming it as his own creation.

She poured herself a stiff drink, the ice clinking a hollow sound in the suddenly silent apartment. She knew what to do. She’d spend the next few weeks at the library, researching every single one of her rival's recipes. Then, she would release them on the internet, attributed to their *real* author.
